History of Goalando subdivision:

Goalando P.S was created in 1920 and it was named as a subdivision in 1984. There is a ferry port in this subdivision which is the largest in Bangladesh. It is also known as Doulatdia-Paturia ferry ghat. The ferry port starts from Doulatdia (Goalando) to Paturia (Manikganj). Approximate 3500 vehicles cross the river using this ferry port every day. The ferry port is the biggest entrance to south Bengal of Bangladesh. The biggest hooker house is situated near the port with around 1.5k hookers.
